Treatment Approaches

Evidence-Based Therapy, Personalized for You

Therapy is certainly not a one-size-fits-all process. Dr. Chelsea Brieman uses evidence-based interventions and a collaborative approach to tailor therapy around your individual needs, experiences, and treatment goals. Click or hover over each therapy to learn more.

CBT Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy examines the connection between your thoughts, emotions and behaviors. CBT can help you recognize patterns that contribute to anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, depression, and burnout.

Treatment focuses on practical strategies that help you recognize and challenge unhelpful beliefs and respond more effectively in stressful situations with greater confidence and clarity.

DBT Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy provides practical tools for managing intense emotions, navigating difficult situations more effectively, and improving communication within your relationships.

DBT strategies may include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. These skills can help you respond thoughtfully instead of feeling controlled by the emotion of the moment.

CPT Cognitive Processing Therapy

Cognitive Processing Therapy is a trauma-focused type of cognitive behavioral therapy and is considered one of the 'gold standard' treatments for PTSD and other trauma-related symptoms.

CPT helps you identify and examine 'stuck points,' which are rigid, unhelpful, and often inaccurate thoughts or beliefs that can interfere with healing after a traumatic event.

PE Prolonged Exposure Therapy

Prolonged Exposure Therapy is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD and trauma-related symptoms and is considered one of the 'gold standard' treatments for PTSD. Trauma can lead people to avoid memories, emotions, situations or activities that feel connected to what happened.

Through a carefully-paced and collaborative process, PE helps reduce avoidance and allows you to safely process traumatic experiences so they have less control over your present life.

MBT Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based interventions help you develop greater awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and physical responses without immediately judging or reacting to them.

These strategies can reduce rumination, improve emotional regulation, and help you remain grounded when anxiety or your inner critic begins taking over.

MI Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative and nonjudgmental approach that can help when part of you wants to make a change while another part feels uncertain, hesitant, or overwhelmed.

The process helps you clarify what matters most, explore barriers to change, and strengthen your confidence in taking meaningful next steps.

CBCT Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy is designed to address the ways trauma and PTSD can affect a couple’s relationship, communication, trust and emotional connection.

Treatment helps couples improve communication, reduce avoidance, strengthen mutual support, and work together toward recovery. Suitability for conjoint therapy is determined through consultation and assessment.

Following an initial assessment, Dr. Chelsea will recommend an individualized approach based on your concerns, goals, and readiness for treatment.
