My Approach to Therapy
It’s so important to find a therapist that you can truly connect with because having the right fit is when the best kind of work can be done!
I would describe my interpersonal style as warm, approachable, and authentic, and I strive to create and maintain a “judgment-free” zone. I also think humor can be helpful, and maybe even necessary, at times. Because therapy can be effective without having to be stiff or overly clinical.
I’m here to listen, and I’m here to help you recognize and challenge some of the ways that you've been ‘taught’ to think [about yourself, about others, about the world, etc.]. I’ll always offer my genuine observations and feedback, and I’ll help you consider ways to potentially step outside of your comfort zone in small and manageable steps.
I primarily use cognitive-behavioral strategies because they’re practical, flexible, and backed by research. I also like that CBT gives you tools you can actually use outside of therapy, with the goal of helping you become more confident in working through challenges on your own — you essentially learn how to become your own therapist.
